TOPIC: A SINCERE FAITH
DEVOTIONAL READING: Psalm 56
LESSON SCRIPTURE: Daniel 1:8-21
DATE: JANUARY 2, 2022

INTRODUCTION

Happy New Year, may God use this Year to write positive unforgettable history in your life in Jesus Name. The quest for money, power, and position has made many Christians compromise their faith with the excuse that God understands. Our disposition during challenging moments as believers testifies to our level of faith in God. Our study today focuses on Daniel and how he refused to compromise his faith in God when he was taken captive to Babylon

THE LESSON EXPLAINED:

A. Daniel’s Resolution (Daniel 1:8-14)
Daniel resolved to stick to the commands of God rather than defile himself with the royal food and wine. Daniel knew the consequences of this resolution yet he was ready to face it instead of compromising his faith. Likewise, believers today should strive to hold on to their faith and not to give up when faced with life’s challenges. .

DISCUSSION TIME:

1. What are the things that can be likened to royal delicacies in our contemporary time that Christian should avoid?
B. Daniel’s Amazing Reward (Daniel 1:17-21) One of the attributes of God is that He rewards faithfulness. Daniel and his friends were exemplary in their relationship with God. Believers should be ready to obey God rather than people not minding the consequences. The decision of these Hebrews boys to obey God despite the danger they found themselves was rewarded with promotion and prominence

DISCUSSION TIME:

1. Discuss the various ways God reward faithfulness

Points to Note from the Lessons
*There will always be situations that contend with our commitment and obedience to God.
* When other laws conflict with that of God, our priority should be obedience to God.
* Christians must be polite in our bid to defend the faith.

Memory Verse:

“But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine” (Daniel 1:8a)
