We can learn much from Revelation about the nature of God. And the more we know about God, the more meaningful our worship and lives will become. Knowing God as the Almighty will help us to demonstrate our faith and trust in God.
A. The Throne in Heaven (Revelation 4:2-6)
Apostle John was taken up in the spirit to be showed things which must take place. The first thing he saw was a throne, not an ordinary one, but one with awe. Throne represents authority, power and this throne was occupied by the Lord Almighty. The throne is a powerful declaration of not merely God’s presence but of His sovereign, rightful reign and His prerogative to judge. The one who sat on the throne rules from the throne. It was an occupied throne.
1. Describe the nature of the throne that Apostle John saw. Consider verses.
B. The Lord God Almighty (Revelation 4:3, 9)
Apostle John described the One who sat on the throne as One who was like a Jasper (Diamond) which is white and sardius, a red light. The Lord Almighty is likened to glittering lights of white and red. He is surrounded by the twenty-four elders who are constantly worshipping Him as the Almighty God who live forever.
1. Can we say the present church today is worshipping God in truth and spirit as the supreme God? If no, how can the church do so today?
