TOPIC: THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY
DEVOTIONAL READING: Revelation 19:1-8
LESSON SCRIPTURE: Revelation 4:1-11
DATE: APRIL 3,2022

INTRODUCTION

We can learn much from Revelation about the nature of God. And the more we know about God, the more meaningful our worship and lives will become. Knowing God as the Almighty will help us to demonstrate our faith and trust in God.

THE LESSON EXPLAINED

A. The Throne in Heaven (Revelation 4:2-6)
Apostle John was taken up in the spirit to be showed things which must take place. The first thing he saw was a throne, not an ordinary one, but one with awe. Throne represents authority, power and this throne was occupied by the Lord Almighty. The throne is a powerful declaration of not merely God’s presence but of His sovereign, rightful reign and His prerogative to judge. The one who sat on the throne rules from the throne. It was an occupied throne.

DISCUSSION TIME

1. Describe the nature of the throne that Apostle John saw. Consider verses.

B. The Lord God Almighty (Revelation 4:3, 9)
Apostle John described the One who sat on the throne as One who was like a Jasper (Diamond) which is white and sardius, a red light. The Lord Almighty is likened to glittering lights of white and red. He is surrounded by the twenty-four elders who are constantly worshipping Him as the Almighty God who live forever.

DISCUSSION TIME

1. Can we say the present church today is worshipping God in truth and spirit as the supreme God? If no, how can the church do so today?

Points to Note from the Lesson
* There is definitely a throne in heaven occupied by God Almighty where He rules from.
* Knowing God as the Almighty will help us give Him quality worship which translates to having encounter with Him.
* The Lord God is the Almighty; no one is greater or stronger than Him. * God is worthy of all glory, honour and power.

Memory Verse:

"You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being." (Revelation 4:11)
