TOPIC: HE HAS RISEN
DEVOTIONAL READING: Luke 24:36-49
LESSON SCRIPTURES: Luke 24:1-12, 30-35
DATE: APRIL 17,2022

INTRODUCTION

He is not here, “He is risen” one of the most hopeful statements in the Bible. Through this statement, we know that whatever life brings, there is hope beyond the grave. The uncertainty, doubt, and worries of this life will never be able to shake the power of the empty tomb.

THE LESSON EXPLAINED

A. The Empty Tomb (Luke 24:1-4)
On the first day of the week (Sunday), the women went to the tomb of Jesus with spices probably to anoint the body of Christ again. The empty tomb fills the women with fear and alarm (Luke 24:4), not with faith that Christ might have risen as He said or promised. As believers, we should be sensitive to His promises and believe in Him and trust Him to keep His promises.

DISCUSSION TIME

1. Many people today are still in doubt and reasoning how Jesus resurrected. What should be the right attitude of believers to the empty tomb?

B. He Hs Risen (Luke 24: 5-6)
The angles confirmed to the women that Christ has risen. When the disciples were told, the words seem to them as idle tales. Jesus appeared to the disciples, opened their understanding and they understood that Christ has risen indeed. Jesus did what He said He would do – come back from death.

DISCUSSION TIME

1. Believers ought to be excited in sharing the good news of the risen Christ, but this is not the case today. Discuss.

Points to Note from the Lesson
* Christ resurrection broke the grip of sin and death over us.
* Christ death reconciled us back to God.
* Preaching the gospel is our mandate from Christ (Matthew 16:15)

Memory Verse:

and saying, "It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon." (Luke 24:34).
