The truth of Christianity rests heavily on the Resurrection. Jesus appearing to His disciples was to confirm to them that he was alive and had power over death. This study aims to remind us of the interpretation of the suffering of the Messiah and the hope of His second coming.
A. Jesus at the Sea of Galilee (John 21:1-4)
After appearing to the disciples on two occasions (John 20:19-23 and 24-31), the disciples led by Simon Peter still decided to go fishing. Jesus was at the sea because He is all knowing. He knew they will go fishing. Many times as humans, we are quick to forget what God has promised and done for us.
1. Discuss why believers are quick to forget their testimony and promise of God.
B. The Great Catch (John 21:5-6)
The presence of the Lord makes the differences. The disciples have tossed all night without success but at the command of the Lord which they obeyed, there was a miraculous catch of fishes. At this great catch, the disciples realized that it could only be the Master (Jesus) that can do this miracle.
1. Discuss some miraculous happening in our lives and nation that point to the presence of God
Points to Note from the Lesson
* The presence of God makes the difference in every situation.
* We should depend on Christ and respond to His invitation to save.
“Jesus said to them, ‘come and have breakfast’. None of the disciples dares ask Him, ‘Who are you? They knew it was the Lord” (John 21:12).
